Random selecta: NGC4565 & M106

Ive had this data sitting about for a week now, so its time to do something with it. It was one of those sessions where you have no real plan, just point at something interesting and snap away while I waited for my old mate DWB111 to rise in Cygnus (im going to give that a right thrashing this year!).

M106 will need a few of its subs replacing as there was a lot of high cloud creeping in towards the end of the session, so the outer arms arent quite as good as they should be. Im quite pleased with the needle galaxy, it was my first attempt and it turned out pretty crisp even though the guiding was a bit iffy.

NGC4565: Needle galaxy

15x300(L)

M106

16x300(L)

Evostar ED80(0.85x), Atik 314L+, CG5-GT

Setpoint: -10

Calibration: Bias & Flats

Thanks for looking :)

Don't worry - Everyone's very friendly on here! If you don't know what something is, please do ask...

We've all been "newbies" at some time, and certainly whenever I buy new kit, I tend to go back to being a newbie! :)

Very nice (as usual) Rob - That ED80's certainly still singing for you... :)

Yep, and its not going anywhere :) The reliability factor is what really stands out for me, its never once had a problem - apart from a couple of loose(ish) screws on the focuser when I first had it.

Thanks Andy for picking up the question for me as yesterday I was a bit busy filling holes in the plasterwork caused my my 2-year old wrecking machine of a son!

Also thanks to Alex (you coming to SGL8?), Stephen, Mark, Simon and Ivo. Im hoping tonight will clear up a bit more so I can improve the M106, theres been a lot of high wispy stuff today but knowing my luck, as soon as it gets dark (about 10.30pm!) it will return.

Tomorrow looks promising though :)
