Building Solar Filter

I need some insight on how to make a solar filter for my scope that is if I can get my hands on some solar film before the Venus Transit. I'll be using it on my Celestron SP-C6 scope and I'll be doing imaging and possibly viewing. With the 6in scope do I make a filter the full size of the opening or do I make a off axis filter cell?

If you can get the film in time, I would suggest a full aperture filter as the central obstruction is fairly big on this scope.

Just make sure it is secure.
