Its funny, this is nothing new to photographers ... at least not to those owning Nikon digital compacts.

They have a mode called Best-Shot-Selector (BSS) that stores several images in a buffer then saves the best one to the memory card.

Quite right Steve, i used that feature on the Coolpix 4500 many a time..
