Viewing camera image live on a laptop?

I am kind of bummed at the fact that Nikon is not as astro-photography friendly as Canon. I was, up until a couple of days ago a completely dedicated Nikon Baby, I actually still have all my Nikons I ever bought, in perfect working order no less, and they are all awesome.

but when I started investigating hardware for my new Scope, 2 things Quickly came to mind, the camera must be remotely controllable, and it must be able to give you a live view of what its looking at.

and with those two option I hit the Google and soon it became apparent that I was going to be converted...

Even the bottom-feeder cheapy EOS-1100D can do it all.

And then the option of hacking the firmware is also there, with Canon.

They are truly the enthusiast top choice.
