Why are all the laser collimators using red lasers? If it were green it could then double up as a handy pointer, or even mounted and used as a laser finder!

I think the red lasers are heaps cheaper to produce and they are very low power for collimators so low battery usage.

green lasers are low voltage as well mines 3v

Maybe the red light has less effect on your dark adaption? You certainly wouldn't want a 5mW green beam in your eye.
