Looks like the Met Office were right after all

Despite my gutters overflowing thanks to the torrential rain not four hours ago, the sky is now clear and I have surprisingly good views of Venus, Procyon, Regulus, Mars and Arcturus. The stars don't even seem to be particularly twinkly. I'm never particularly hopeful about clear skies after a lot of rain, but perhaps it could be a reasonable night.

Looks like there's a patch of clear sky being slowly dragged south-east from the Irish sea by a weather pattern sitting off the Wash at the moment. South Wales and the south west may be the lucky ones tonight.

Surprisingly, the sky clarity can be very good after rain.

Not always, but sometimes.

Ron.

It's difficult to call, isn't it? Sometimes the wind seems to blow much of the moisture away. Other times it just seems to hang in the air spoiling the view.
