3C 273 Quasar

Last night didnt exactly go according to plan. First there was the odd patch of cloud blowing through and my intended target (the antennae galaxies) turned out to be far to low to get anything meaningful out of it.

Plan B - Go for the 3C 273 quasar/blazar in Virgo. It turned out to be quite a bright object, but no chance on getting the jets as that would be next to impossible for anyone. I remember trying to show RobH this at SGL7, but his stellarium could not locate it, which left me scratching my head a bit (I was sure it was in stellarium). After having a think about it ive found that in order to find it - you need to be connected to the internet (just confimed that with a test).

At 2.4 billion light years, its not as far as the Twin Quasar I did a couple of months ago (8 Bly), but still - its pretty far away!
