M81 and M82

Here is this years go at these two

The lum is from last year as the 10 hrs I took this year did not have anything to add ( bad seeing )

Taken with SXVR H35 and inc

1) RGB 120 min each- bin 1x1

2) Lum h35 12 hrs

3) about 6 hrs of Ha

4) 14" newt at F3.75

5) Processed in pixinsight

Just taken a look at the full size image. What can I say ... astonishing really. Breathtaking.

Amazing work Harry that is jaw droppingly good. The full size image is such a joy to pan around right from the core of both galaxies to all the faint galaxies in the background.

Good grief!!! That is simply magical. I know diffraction spikes (which i'm guessing are natural with such a fast newt) are not to everyones taste but i think they really add to this image. Stunning detail.

These are the best photos ive ever seen of these galaxies, and i have seen a lot.

how did you keep the background so dark without loosing the fainter parts of the galaxies?

Very pretty images Harry, you have certainly gone deep! The galaxies look unusual, very high in contrast... but still, they show better detail than most of us could ever hope to achieve!

Harry, I struggle to see how an image like that is even possible with amateur equipment...

Spectacular in one word! Especially M82 has resolution I haven't seen since HST kindly looked in that direction.
