First image - NS 130SLT

I was determined to try and image something with the new scope and had to make do with what I got of the moon at 20:30 as it clouded over soon after and the clouds haven't lifted yet. So here's a quick 3 image mosaic.

I did have one problem with the new scope, I couldn't get focus as there wasn't enough in travel on the focusor. Luckily I had bought a low profile Toucam adaptor a while back so, problem solved. :D

The x2 barlow I use in a Celestron Ultima, I bought it second hand from a member on here and it's an excellent barlow.

If you need a low profile adapter for a toucam, here's where I bought mine from:http://www.scopesnskies.com/prod/astro-engineering/webcam/nosepiece/ac624.html

Your going to love the 130SLT. If, like me, it's your first goto, your going to REALLY love it. :D

Legion48, thanks alot for getting back to me so fast, i am completely new to the whole astronomy world, so having looked around i came to the conclusion that the 130slt was the one for me, i also bought along with it through recommendations the Revelation Eyepiece/Filter set and a power pack, ill have to give it awhile before i buy the Celestron Ultima, do you think i will notice a difference if i do buy it? apart from that is there anything else i will need, and what do you think of the 130slt are you happy with yours?

and lastly your photos are amazing did they all come through the 130slt?

cheers for helping though i really appreciate it!

I think you've got a good start with the scope and eyepiece set, the power pack is a good addition as well. I haven't got one yet and am still using the mains with an extension lead which is not ideal. As for the Ultima barlow, when viewing planets and the moon you will definitely want more magnification and the Ultima is vastly superior to the barlow that comes with the scope. Having said that, I would use the one you have first and see what you think. You may decide that you would prefer a x3 or x4.

I'm more than happy with my 130 SLT, but it's the goto that I like best. Not only does it find the dim stuff for you, but it tracks the bright stuff brilliantly as well. When correctly aligned, I find my target stays in the FOV for the entire session.

My images are from a mix of the 3 scopes I've owned. A Firstscope 114, a SW 130PM and, lastly, the 130SLT. Most of my images should have the details of which scope used etc on them.

I'm still pretty new to the NexStar and you might want to check out the CloudyNights forum. They have a forum specific to NexStar users that is full of helpful stuff. Here's a link:

Enjoy the scope and I look forward to your "first light" report. :D
