Skywatcher EQ6 v3.27 Win7 telescope control

Recommended Posts

HELP! I used to have this all working but now it is playing about.

I have installed the latest Stellarium version. I have a Skywatcher EQ6

with version 3.27 software. I run Windows 7 and have a Prolific PL-2303

USB to serial adaptor.

The scope setup in Stellarium is this:

Com3

Localhost Port 10001

Skywatcher synscan v3 or greater (tried Celestron, same trouble)

The problem? I only partially works. Sometimes pressing Alt+ 1 will move

the scope, but not to where I have clicked the cursor to, just some

where elsewhere. Then when clicking another object and Alt +1 it will

move and return to the old object - very odd. Sometimes it will respond

correctly to co-ordinate commands. However, usually after one move to a

new object, it not respond again. Occasionally, stopping and re-starting

the scope control may enable it to work - kind of! There seems to be no

logic to this, as though in some way it is not calibrated.

I have tried installing a virtual serial port, but am not at all sure

what settings to use. I've tried re-installing the Prolific driver, I've

tried changing baud rate, all to no avail. Baud rate defaulted to 9600, what other settings are needed for the RS232?

I am now totally frustrated, especially as I had it all working a while

ago; can anyone throw some light on this please?

Phil :(

You should ask admin to move this post to the correct area (software or beginners section). This area is for problems associated with the forum not for problems related to equipment.

Hi,

I know this thread is supposed to be moved, but I thought I'd just reply to state that I think you are supposed to use CTRL +1 to move to the cross-hairs, not ALT +1.

Best Wishes,

Jim

How do I contact admin, it is not at all obvious, as indeed are other aspects of how to tailor my profile and add a footer for my gear, as you guys have. IIt seems somewhat obscure.

Admin seemed to have moved the thread already.

For starters click at the "Clear Align Data'' and "Clear Sync Data" from EQMod. Then perform again a 3-star alignment. If this doesn't work i suggest installing an older version of EQMod. I had almost the same problem as you when i tried to center a star via CdC with no result. I downgaded to EQMod 1.20k and ever since everything works fine
