On original canon batteries my 7D did over 4.5k shots in one day on 1 1/2 batteries...

I have had some really ropey cheapies off ebay which had no where near the capacity and were filled with scrap cardboard.. I only wanted then for the cases...

I also had a cheap camera psu that blew up... fortunately the canera was ok..

Peter...

was that AP peter or just normal photography?

Normal.. I get a couple of hours of open shutter out of them...

The latter cameras and batteries are better than the earlier ones..

With the 1000D the batteries would charge in an hour and run for two so only needed two batteries all night...

I used to need three with the 350D

Battery lasted between 3 and 4 hours. That's on a spare battery I bought from Amazon. 7.4v 1200mAh. :- http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0055WZPNK/ref=oh_o04_s00_i00_details

I expect to be cutting it open to use as a dummy to connect 8v power from an external supply. I now have 2 genuine Canon batteries as well.
