Bino Help

Recommended Posts

Hey all!

I've just rummaged around the house and found my old 8x40 bino's. They're reasonably old, and the brand is "Miranda".

Says "8x40 Gold Coated Optics Wide Angle 157mts at 1000 mts" on them.

Now I know 10x50 is the best for binoculars, but these will be ok for viewing the moon on a clear night.

However, I am not sure where to get a tripod for this brand. Will any type of tripod work, or are tripods brand-specific?

The bino's are almost identical to these:

Now I know 10x50 is the best for binoculars

On what basis is this statement made ?

For general nature use 8x42 are much more popular,

For entry level astronomy 15x70's are the most recommended,

For more advanced astronomy people buy binoculars that are 20x, 25x and up to 100x or above with changeable eyepieces.

10x50's are not that commonly used these days.
