barkis
Has anyone had any dealings with this company. I just found them today, and wondered what they are like to deal with. http://www.opticstar.com/Run/Astronomy/Astro-Imagers-Opticstar.asp?s=4d22476f-7672-4ea5-8056-55a6b71b9bce&p=0_10_0_50_70
Robfal
Ron, They are very good, and the UK dealer for shoestring astronomy. They have very prompt service. On a slightly different point, I have been considering the autoguider but have decided to probably get a Toucam. If you are looking for a guide camera you could consider trying the QHY2 and it's derivitives (I think the opticstar i one these). They are all based on the same CMOS chip. They are available from www.QHYCCD.com It's the Qhy5 guider. It's called the qguider in the States and seems to have good reviews. I contacted them and the cost is $150 BW and $120 Colour + $30 carriage. Thats approx £90. The other cameras look good and are cheap fro what you get. They are available under various names from a range of suppliers. Having said that I would thoroughly recommend OpticstarRob

The reason I was interested in the Opticstar one, was the conversion you can get that will allow you to use it with the EQ mount Handset with a simple wiring job. My frac mount is the Astro5, and the handset is the DK-3 which controls my RA and Declination motors on that mount. I have written to them to see if the conversion is suitable for the DK-3 handset. Cheers Ron.
