Firewire to USB?

Hi All,

Any ideas for a converter? I´ve got a DMK31 with a firwire connection, but my netbook doesn´t have a firwire port. I´ve looked at Amazon, but reviews are mixed. Anyone got/used a converter or can advise?

I have a firewire DMK41....

It really needs a PCMCIA firewire card (or an Xpress card, depending on the laptop)

On eBay...I use a 12V power supply to the card then the DMK... works 100%

(If you do find the small 4 pin firewire connection...you still need an adaptor which gives the camera 12V...on my ol' Acer this small firewire quickly fell apart!!)

Converters typically don't work for things like camera control and streaming. You need to generate a "native" full size port as Merlin says.

Just had a look on Amazon. I have an acer netbook (the cheapest one!!!). The DMK is at home, but I´m pretty sure it´s 6 pin firewire.

Anyway, is this the sort of thingy you mean:

I´m looking at Amazon because their delivery to this part of Spain is usually pretty reliable.
