I have the following listed:

Thu 16/02 7:30pm, BBC4

Fri 17/02 1:05am, BBC4

Sat 18/02 12:00pm, BBC2

Sun 19/02 1:10am, BBC4

I assume the Saturday showing is midday, but I'm never sure what people mean when they give 12:00 as being am or pm. To my way of thinking, both 12:00am and 12:00pm should be midnight.

12:00am = 00:00hrs = midnight; 12:00pm = 12:00hrs = noon

But why should it be so?

pm means "post meridiem", or "after midday", so 12:00pm is the twelve o'clock that occurs after midday, ie. midnight.

am means "ante meridiem", or "before midday", so 12:00am is the twelve o'clock that occurs before midday, ie. midnight.

Personally I always refer to the midday one as "noon".

The case could be made, I guess, that since it's also potentially vague whether 12:00 midnight on 15th Feb means the start of the day or the end of it, it might be clearer to use 12:00am 15th Feb to mean midnight at the start of the day, and 12:00pm 15th Feb to mean midnight at the end of the day. I'd suggest that way madness lies, however :icon_scratch:
