RikM
I must say I have had 2 nights with my new Astronomic UHC filter and it really does allow me to pull more out of the murky orange Gloucester skies. This took about a 45min at the eyepiece and then 15min overpaining the stars in PS this morning. I used 2B and 4B pencils and a paper blending stump. Some of the dark lanes I used an eraser mask and Pentell softee. Scanned and inverted. DarkerSky
That's fantastic! A super sketch Rik. Capturing the mesh of intricate lanes is not an easy task. It looks really good.

RikM
Thanks all. I really enjoyed this one. Just for a bit of fun I made a side by side of my sketch with a 10" vs. a pic I took last year through a 6". I think I will use this in future for talks to show the difference between visual and imaging.

DarkerSky
That's a great side by side comparison Rik. I might refer to it on sat night (if you don't mind) when i'm helping at a local outreach event.

bish
Great pic. I normally whimp out of trying to draw those subtle details when stood out in the cold!
