Just a couple of nights ago on the 3/2/12 we had an amazingly clear evening.

Using a 12mm EP, a 9mm orthoscopic and a x1.5 Barlow on a 150pl Skywatcher, I could see a tremendous amount of detail in and around Posidonius ,which was close to the terminator.

There were rills to the crater floor (Rimae Posidonius) and loads of wall detail . In addition there was Pos.A, a further crater to the floor. Nearby were the wrinkle ridges ( Dorsa Smirnov). I usually ignore these as eye motes!

The contrast and clarity was stunning.

The f8 old school Newtonian is the weapon of choice for lunar viewing.

Watch for the waning Moon, Nick.
