Stay in or go out?

Hi all!

I was just interested wheter it would make any difference if I go out to dark location such as Dartmoor to do planetary imaging or if I stay here in centre of Plymouth. I know that dark sky is necessary for DSO but does the same apply to planets. On the other hand I got my best planetary image from Dartmoor but don't know whether it was because of "more dark" or because the conditions were better

Don't rightly know. You might find that there is a lot more haze and or heat in the air in and around a city and so get better seeing out in the open.

Like Ant said, you need to avoid local conditions that affect the seeing if you can. Houses are warm and create a plume of turbulence because of that, street lights also have a warm air plume rising off them so if you can get away from them it helps with the seeing.
