Rustmonkey
I have literally just realised that I may have ordered the wrong scope from Harper's. I thought I had ordered a Skywatcher 150p and EQ3 mount. Looks like I have ordered the 150PL instead. I know it's longer and would be ok for planetary but have I made a mistake as I wanted it for basic imaging of DSO's etc. which is better for this function?????I guess the PL is heavier too which would had extra strain to the mount.Do I need to stop the delivery before its too late and get the 150p???? John
The P would be better for deep sky use as it's faster (F/5 v's F/8). The PL is a little undermounted on the EQ3-2 mount as well, in my opinion. It's a long tube ....
Rustmonkey
Cheers John. That's what I was thinking especially with a canon 50d attached.
steppenwolf
The EQ3 will be fairly taxed for long exposures with a long focal length telescope so personally, I'd recommend a shorter focal length for DSO imaging. 750 v 1200mm FL is a big difference - your original choice was the better one.
