Next bit of kit?

Just wondering what would be a decent next buy. So far I have bought a Telrad, 2 x Barlow, collimator eyepiece and webcam for my 200p Dob. I have a 10mm and 25mm eyepiece that came with the 'scope.

How about a nice comfy seat to use with it, a red torch, and a star atlas?

I'd second Steve on a star atlas. The Cambridge one is pretty good.

Any of turn left at Orion (a great starter)' the illustrated guide to astronomical wonders, or a Cambridge star atlas....or a combination of

Stellarium, and if you are a smart phone user some mobile planetarium app

Upgraded eyepieces and a narrowband filter like a UHC perhaps ?.

Oh yeah I've got a Baader moon filter too. The atlas sounds like a sensible choice.

I've got Stellarium on the laptop and Star Chart on Android.

How about some sage advice that you won't hear very often on here.....use the kit you have for a while and then decide which bits aren't quite optimal for you....

....you may decide you need a better high power eyepiece for planetary viewing if thats your thing

...if you can't find objects, a wider field long eyepiece

...if you keep falling over things, a red head torch would be a good idea

...if you keep dropping your eyepieces, a box to put them in

There are great suggestions in this thread, but take your time, use your kit for a while and the you'll get a feel for what needs upgrading

Great advice Particularly, use your present kit for a while and see what wants upgrading. That's what I did.
