Agreed, then i noticed it was 3 years old

Being of the mechanical persuasion i have to admit that they do seem to be over engineered quite a lot. If people wanted to get rid of the top plate they could always get a tapered shim machined to fit between the top of the pier and the mount to true it up.

No need to "true it up" any deviation from level can be counteracted with the PA.

Yes but you need to fiddle with alt and az adjustments at the same time to PA correctly.. if it can be easily levelled I'd say do level it if you can.

Davies and everyone else. Sorry this has not been updated for such a long time. I have a good excuse ..... I nearly died :-). Puts a bit of a crimp on things. Maybe as this year goes on I'll get back up to speed on the project. Still have a large hole in my garden for the foundations. Kind regards.
