Meade Series 4000 eyepieces

Having seen another post on these which metions fakes on ebay, how do you tell the difference ?

As i have a couple would be interested.

Hi, the rubber grip strip is about 30mm wide not 15mm and the metal casing is matt not gloss finish. general finish is sloppy. How are the 4000's as I have some coming in the post. Huw

I can confirm that, as I have pretty much a full-set of genuine Meade Series 4000 eyepieces.

The 40mm has a different body entirely and the coatings a different too.

Thanks for the warning Huw, theres a lot of these sets poping up on Ebay at very cheap prices.

The 4000's seem OK to me but then i am a noob with a basic scope, lots to learn.

Just had a look at mine, and so does the 32mm.

The 20mm and 15mm only have a 5mm wide rubbber 'grip' band, and 12.4, 9.7 and 6.4 have no 'grip' band at all.
