Nessy
From my days of playing with electronics I used to use a can of spray that took the circuit board down to -degrees (very cold). It was non-conductive and used 'live'. Has anyone tried using this stuff on a CCD (or back of) to see if it helps?
Naz
I should imagine a good idea in theory, but two problems that I think would make it a no-no.First, it could cause ice to form and render the image unusable, secondly, the temperature would fluctuate and that may cause further problems.naz
Nessy
Hmmm - good point. I might try a bit and see what happens. I guess it can't hurt
Naz
It shouldn't do any harm, might be surprised, naz
Greg
Trudie...Having an electronics background..The theory is sound ...However the practice is flawed...The propelant may damage the CCD..Reducing the temperature of the ccd will reduce the noise...But using a Coolant spray could damage the chip.. Nessy
hmmmm again!Perhaps if one were to put a heat-sink on the back and spray that then the this would cool the chip by convection rather than direct?
geppetto
Used hundreds of tins of that in my time...Quite a few used for killing wasps in the workshop Too cold mate....you'll get water condensing out of the airand your camera will be dripping
Nessy
Oh well....back to the drawing board! At least there are others that think crazy like me
Greg
Talking of crazy ideas...Didn't someone ask about strapping a freezer block to the back of the camera once!
