Isee Stars is up now and will accept new uploads, there is a major problem with uploads from the past couple of months, also if you registered within the last 5 days you will need to register again...

I will post an announcement later today about whats going on, in the meantime, please accept my apologies and know that I am working as hard as I can to bring Isee Stars back online.

Thanks for all your hard work Grant (on this particular problem and more generally on just keeping the site up and running efficiently) :salute: - what would we do without you??

I think the way the forum works means you don't see the image in the preview if you use the forum attach feature...

If you use Isee Stars and insert the code, you should see it in the preview...

I got a preview last night when I uploaded an image using iseestars...

Alas poor me.....iseestars and I......eye to eye don't see! :police: (That's really terrible......sorry!)

I have tried, honest but it don't seem to like my attempts....something to do with passwords, I think.

Plus, I'm not very good with 'computer speak' which does not help matters.

Cheers

Cloudwatcher, have you registered with Isee Stars? The Isee Stars site is completely seperate from the forum so you need to login with your Isee Stars account details and not your forum details...

Hmm!, perahps I'm missing something here, but I've been uploading pics to a couple of other astro forums for some considerable time, and more recently this forum.

Until now, I not even heard of 'Iseestars', that alone use it.

Therefore, I guess my question is, if you don't need an 'Iseestars' account in order to upload pics to this forum, then why bother with it?

Fair question Dave, basically Isee Stars is a standalone site that you don't have to use to post images but it allows for much larger image uploads than the forum. It also means your images are all stored in one place rather than dotted around the forum, this in theory makes it easier to manage your images and share them with others.

Isee Stars also lets you uploads lots of images at once and create galleries, so if you have alot of images to share it is easier to link to the gallery on Isee Stars than it is to upload them to the forum, especially as the forum has limits to the number and size of images that can be posted.

There are other benefits to using Isee Stars such as the file formats it can support and the way it resizes the images to maintain quality. We offer you the choice to either use Isee Stars or the forums own system, its entirely up to you which you opt to use.

Hi Grant,

I have indeed registered with iseestars, free account (tight wad me) and and can readily access the account on site

without any problems. It's only when it comes to downloads to the forum that the gremlins take control! :police:

Fortunately, I'm more observer than imager so it's not a great problem for me.

Thanks for your post and again, congrats on the first images. :D Keep that 350D busy! :D

Regards,

CW

Thanks for the explanation Grant, much appreciated.

I can see the logic behind it, especially if some members 'post' lots of pictures, or wish to create a 'gallery'.

It was just something that I'd not met before, and being used to compressing my images to a suitable 'file size' for 'posting' directly, albeit some of the finer detail is lost.

BTW, not too Many Grant's about, at least not when we named our son Grant, back in 1967. In fact it was quite a rare name then, and even now not vast numbers of them. Must make you guys, a select few :police:
