Black Holes and Time Warps: Einstein's Outrageous Legacy

Recommended Posts

James/ Al,

The book is in the thread title, it written by Kip Thorne who was a student of a guy called John Wheeler who in turn ran the USA "A" Bomb project.

Its a running story of the physics of black hole theory from Newton (and a couple of guys had predicted them in Newtons time, believe it or not!) through Einstien (and WW2 bomb efforts) and on to Hawking etc. All the ideas are explained at you go along and there is the odd funny story or human interest angle every now and again.

It's a very easy read considering the subject matter.
