Is 3x barlow going to do the job?

Recommended Posts

Hi

I have recently started with taking webcam images of planets and would be happy if you could help.

I have got C8N f5, toucam pro and 2x barlow but images I take are not magnified enough. I searched the web and found: 4X Image Mate Image Amplifier for £59.99 but this is currently out of my budget. Would the 3x barlow be enough for more detailed look at the planets please? Or is there any other option? Or is it worth saving more money and buying 4X Image Mate Image Amplifier? :police:

Thanks for help

Martin

For planets, it is recommended that you push at least to f/20. So your f/5 will need at least a 4x. I picked up a 4x ImageMate second hand and half-price (from memory) from a member of this forum recently. I think it's overkill for my f/8 but I would like to keep it for my next, faster scope.
