Christmas Lights and Observing?

I dont' expect much else, it seems that common sense has left the building. I don't have issues with respecting peoples rights to feel safe but you don't have to spill light everywhere in a block of flats to do that. If the light directed properly only where it's needed, it would take less power to run them.

We have had street lighting cuts in our street, literally, they are now only 6 ft tall and just column stubs, what a difference, almost all the street is pitch black and the night sky, what a change it has made, it seems that much better, the neibourhood is already grumbling that they can`t see their way about, there are not all that many Xmas lights this year adorning frontages as in the past, but it makes you wonder how folks managed during the last war, it must also have been an astronomers dream, light pollution did not exist :)
