Lunar Eclipse: 10th December 2011

Recommended Posts

I have managet to catch a glimpse of it here in Czech republic as it neared its end just above the horizon, approx. 15-20 minutes of it. The clouds miraculously disappeared so I grabbed my russians binos and went for it. Pretty sight indeed, especially with Venus at the other side of the horizon. I have a woderful evening already :)

I have just seen the tail end of the eclipse from the Netherlands. I dragged the kids out to have a look, and they were suitably impressed. They bounced around shouting "we've seen an eclipse, we've seen an eclipse!"

Caught a glimpse of the tail end as it rose through some trees, but then went into some low cloud :)

I didn't even get a sight of the moon until it was all over :)

Don't want to rub it in too much, but I saw it!

Was planning on not bothering to look by the cloud at half 3. Then on my drive to work it poked its head out of the clouds and looked astonishing!

The moon was appearing so big as it does when it's low, and I could barely look where I was driving for the beauty I was concentrating on :)

Venus and Jupiter up there as well was the icing on the cake!

At my lat: some clouds above horizon (NE), no rain, almost frostly. So, good visibility that I`m glad this time.

Christmas shopping can be done any time, astronomy waits for no man!

I was clouded out as it happens so it was ok.
