Thanks for the welcome guys.

That evening was what would be called 'making the best of a bad job'.

My usual route to that site was too badly rutted to get my van in so a very slow trip through the woods with lots of foam packing in the crates, and even more between the crates and the trailer. That was back in 2009 and was my first reasonably successful use of the polar mount. I made the alignment in daylight using a navigation compass from (I think) a Wellington bomber. In the pic it's on the upturned crate near the front. All very lo-tech!
