Horsehead in Ha

Despite the moon and fireworks, I decided to set up anyway as it was clear for a change and I had a lot of new software to test out. I got the new version of CdC working (new to me, I didn;t realise a new version was released about a year ago) together with Elbrus plate solving, but I didn't get on at all with the HitecAstro DC focus controller and suspect that it will be going back.

I manged to add a few subs to other projects and took my first horsehead data (in Ha) with my CCD.

Indeed so, excellent. Not a hint of a halo around Alnitak and a clean split of the double to boot. Nice all round.

What exposures did you use?

5 minute exposures.

Unfortunately when I add some SIII and OIII data I have real difficulty making a Hubble type shot - everything ends up green and washed out by the Ha. I might ask for some help on the appropriate forum.
