latest buys.. the S.W.V.G :P

Recommended Posts

I went to get a haircut today, saw something interesting in the charity shop window next door, then spotted these next to a junk camera.

The lables are marked.....

1.) "SUPER 20 Wide Angle Long Eye Relief"

2.) "SUPER 10 Long Eye Relief"

and

3.) "PLOSSL 6.3mm fully coated

The first two are from China, and the 3rd is from Taiwan.

Not sure who the makers might be, do they look familiar to anyone ?

Thanks.

EDIT: Just figured this out..... Click on photo to enlarge immage.

Mike - the two Chinese ones look similar to some Skywatcher eyepieces I have. In particular, I have a 25mm Skywatcher with a "SUPER 25 Wide Angle Long Eye Relief" label on it that looks the same.

Steve, I've had a response from FLO, they say that they take the money as they don't keep card details etc, also what seems a bit of internal email that suggests delivery to them at FLO end of this week, have asked for clarification but nothing received, apparently my first enquiry went into their spam filter! So like you a bit disappointed

After the TOV last week it did lift my interest in our star and so I have ordered a sheet of Baader Astrofilm which I am intending to use as a filter to my Mak-CAS, I gather they work well for solar, it's 70 mm objective and with a 30-90 zoom

I understand that the BAF can be used with reflectors and normal eps

My heritage has the part open flex design and needs very careful screening to ensure no 'side entry' of rays is possible

It will be an interesting project for me, if we get any day or night skys to view!

Also need to make solar alignment gadget too

Thanks for the heads up Gordon - hopefully the flocking material is now on the horizon - quite looking forward to it actually.

Not sure about solar or for that matter Lunar observing - just seems a bit niche to me (super niche really as the whole hobby is pretty specialist I guess) - perhaps in a few years when I'm more experienced I might give it a go. No doubt I'd get something wrong at this stage and end up walking around like blind Pugh lol

Good luck with yours though - hopefully I can take a look the next time we make a meet together - how are you getting on with the asda webcam you showed us- don't think I've seen any image just yet?

Steve, no asda webcam images at present, something to do with the clouds etc, which is why I thought about the solar stuff

Yes you're right, it is a bit specialist and you do have to think carefully about each step you take; you can be assured that I will do my best to be especially safe in this pursuit, as anyone who takes a similar interest should be too

Perhaps its the missed opportunities of Blue Peter and sticky back plastic that I'm really going for! under the guise of solar observation.

In any event one step at a time as they say

My Baader film came today by the way, so now looking at a roll of cardboard and how this can be turned into an optical device!!!

No further news from FLO regarding the flocking, I guess its wait and see

I'm actually looking forward to flocking the scope, it really is a Blue Peter thing I'm begining to think

Gordon

Thanks Mal,

The eyepieces appear to be in good condition, hope to get a peek through them if these clouds ever clear. I'll bring them up to the next meet.

Cheers !

,

The ironing chairs are quite good, I am happy with the one we have, however it would be nice to have had a vinyl covered seat instead of the cloth one; considering the UK weather.

you can always get some vinyl and staple it to the chair mike, its not that expensive either if you like bathroom colours of black and white squares:)

i actually had some given to me for free for the dog if he needed to have an accident from the newport freecycle, give it a go might find somthing

Gaz,

I wouldn't mind sitting on a wet seat, if it would make the clouds drift away while they were busy laughing.

Just got a small head lamp that has a red visor built onto it so that I can have red light. Unfortunately, It's not very powerful and I will have to wait until night to decide if I should have gotten cellophane instead!

Steve, I had a similar email from FLO and the item arrived today, haven't opened it yet, need to set aside some time

seems a good product hope it's more stable than it's thickness suggests

Should get on with it bu the end of the week, but just pleased to have it available

Hope mine comes today gordon but my daughter is home from uni and doesn't get out of bed until after dinner so I'll probably have to wait until the weekend and a trip to the sorting office lol.its ok though not like I'm doing any observing at the moment.
