help needed for old Fullerscopes

These very sturdy mounts are easy to work on, just basic tools are enough. Just take your time, take notes (or pics) and you should be ok.

Any drive motor issues can usually be sorted by this firm -

The Fullerscopes "export" telescopes contained David Hinds "A" quality mirrors which are as good as it gets, look after them!

the "A " quality you talk about is it the A in "2404 A "marked on the back side of the mirror?

Yes! The figure represents the chronological number of optical components made to that date and the A refers to the best quality (claimed to be 1/8 wave or better, usually MUCH better )

Tha brings back memories, saw M81 82, Syrtis Major on Mars for the 1st time and an occultation of Saturn in one of those in the early 80s. The Mk111 is a good solid mount and from the looks that one just needs a little clean up. Yup Dave Hinds mirrors in the A class.

That threaded dec shaft looks interesting not seen one of those before from Fullerscopes, harking back to teh old days of Broadhurst Clarkson there. have you got the matching counterweight or is it a plain counterweight with threaded locking collars?

counterweight are barbell counterweight

after removing paint I bought and adapted a 4" pipe to increase the length of the tripod for my old f/d 15 refractor
