TheThing
Has always been my nemesis object. It is frustratingly difficult to find in the LP of SW London/North Surrey.Seems all I really needed was some big bins! Out with my freshly collimated Celestron Skymaster 15x70 (thanks Kay Optical) for 5 mins, just to test. Not only all fixed, but found M31 easily. Excellent!TheThingSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

michael.h.f.wilkinson
Glad you got it. In LP it can be hard, on a dark site it is naked eye. The nice thing about the 15x70 bins is you can take them anywhere.

JimStan
Shoot, you can easily see it with a set of 7X35s, if you know where to look !Jim S.
swamp thing
Blimey! With your Kit list and number of posts I would have thought you would have seen this years ago.If you are having trouble finding stuff why not join us ( Surrey Observers) on Ranmore common most clear nights.Regards Steve
Polar Bear
Blimey indeed....and I have just decided visual is pointless where I live !you must have really bad LP down there. Even here in Lancashire I can find M31 within seconds on any night with any of my bins. I think the main aspect of finding it is to know the sign post stars of Mirach and Alpheratz and jumping from them to M31, or maybe your LP is so bad you cannot see these ?
