Here's an afocal effort of tonights Moon. A little bit washed out methinks. I need a webcam!

Yeah I reckon a tweak is needed! But I have no idea how to use photoshop!

I had a little play with it Spud, theres not much more in there I don't think. The terminator is nice but I couldn't get much more out of the rest.

Turn down the exposure a bit and you will have cracked it. Photoshop can drag detail out of the shadows but can't cope with overexposure. It's still an excellent shot though.

You did OK Spud. Following CCs assessment, exposure is a fine balance as the lunar phase develops, and his advice on underexposing is preferable to burn out. You will get there. There are no mistakes, just reasons.

The old moon is tricky with exposure, as has been said, less

exposure is the order of the day.

The camera I'm using is a bit on the cheap side and I cant find any way to change exposure settings. But its good fun trying. Did have a go at imaging Posidonius last night under high mag (x240) Memo to self - To maintain good night vision, turn OFF camera flash before attempting Lunar photography!
