Roy@Aldermaston
I have been trying to use a Pentax K100D in conjunction with MaxIm DL Pro 5. Unfortunately, the software doesn't recognise the camera, nor will it load Pentax raw format images (pef) for processing. Does anyone know of a solution short of buying a Canon or Nikon camera?Roy
barkis
Camera drivers are under Diffraction Ltd /MaximDL folder in Programme files on your computer.I can't see anything for the Pentax camera. only Olympus.Best you contact Support for help, but I think you might be unlucky, although, I quote from Maxim's help page.-------------------------------"If you wish to write your own driver, you can use the ASCOM Standard camera interface, or request our native MaxIm DL API through technical support (use Help menu Technical Support)." -------------------------------Good Luck.Ron. Roy@Aldermaston
Thanks Ron. I know Pentax cameras are not widely used in astro-photography, but as a major DSLR manufacturer I'm surprised Pentax aren't supported. I wouldn't have a clue about writing my own driver.Roy
Brinders
I don't use Maxim DL, but as a thought could you not use Adobe DNG RAW rather than Pentax PEF? I have the Pentax 20D and find most software recognise the DNG RAW files.Brinders
Roy@Aldermaston
I think that the dng option probably would work, but since the camera isn't recognised by MaxIm none of the image capture features are available.Roy
