Gosh so sorry to hear about the damage. The bird picture is hilarious.

I am pleased to hear ypu have not observed any degrade in viewing so far. It jut goes to show as people say, obsession about cleaning ones primary is over the top as dirt does not effect as much as one would think. I remeber seeing website where a guy painyed over, rubbed dirt into and then cracked his camera main lens and it made next to no difference in the photos!

Talking about visual and birds I was woken at 5.30am by an owl hooting and got to see the magnificent Orion filling the sky and a new moon with Mars just above it I was tempted to get my telescope out again but just admired it all from my bedroom window :-)
