Finderscope + RDF

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'm trying to get into autoguidiing and was thinking of using my finderscope on my 200p newtonian as a guidescope with the SPC900NC.

I'm worried it may get complicated with the set up having to use the finderscope first for alignment of the mount and then add the camera and refocus it.

I have a spare red dot finder and was thinking of superglueing the shoe for it onto the OTA next to the existing finderscope and using the RDF for star alignment etc and leaving the finderscope set up for guiding.

I can't see it doing any harm? I'm thinking it would work.

Any reason why it shouldn't?

Thanks,

Sam
