Got a chance to get some colour for my M51 shot on Friday night.

so it is now

L:Ha/R:G:B

L 1hr.55 in 5 min subs bin x 1

Ha 30 mins in 7.5 subs bin x 2

R:G:B 25 mins in 2.5 min subs bin x 2

Ha /R mix is 30%/70%

this time I used a 50/50 mix on the Ha/R.

Based on the fact that I've never been there and so don't know what it looks like up close, I'd say that they are both equally likely to be accurate. Both are excellent images Mike.

I try to check here http://www.noao.edu/image_gallery/spiral_galaxies.html to give me an impression of what people will expect it to look like, though some of their examples contradict each other. Its also a nice place to browse and look for targets.

Yup that looks even more stunning , i guess its hard to get the colour to please everyone , but in this instance , it does look better
