the 5th race
i was suprised at how much data i got from a 30s sub just got a remote shutter release so hopefully stop the star trails from the vibration if not gunna have to try shorter subs
Superewza
As an alternative to a remote shutter you could always just set a self timer, so the vibrations from when you press the button don't have time to show.

fatwoul
The first of many, I'm sure. If you like the idea of using your SLR and lenses, have you considered a smaller mount, or even an AstroTrac. Less saving to do, and much easier to take into the field to find really dark sites.
the 5th race
i did look at other mounts but i intend to have a guided ccd rig in the not to distant future
