Idai ep's - any good?

Hi all,

Your valued opinions please. I got an opportunity of buying a used scope for £50. I'm kinda interested in the scope as it's a newer version of the one I already got but it also has with it an Idai 38mm plossl ep and another ep, a 25mm orthoscopic one, which has a 'T' in a circle - is this is a Televue? Plus it has some Tal ep's with it that I know are considered to be good quality by most.

I haven't had chance to see them first hand - only in a photo - but would the Idai & this other 'T' ep be worth the £50 anyway?

Thanks for your views.

Thanks Tony, It's definately the same as the one in the link you attached. I did google Idai, couldn't find a website but just some conflicting info of it being of either US or Japanese manufacture so I guess it's likely to be of decent quality.

If it's the ad that I think it it is, then I'd guess that the 5 eyepieces and barlow could be worth in total say, £100 minimum.

Kellners get poo-pooed these days, but are rather nice on star clusters as they let a lot of light through. Not the greatest eye relief or wide field, but nice.

Volcano top orthos and kellners are from Japan, specifications here,

Kokusai Kohki goods

Cheers,

Andy.

ps: No idea about the Idai though.

I had a Circle-T 25mm Ortho years back in my first scope. I really liked it. I only sold it with my old scope because it had a 0.96" barrel, and I could get more for the scope as a set than just the scope. Very sharp EP as I recall, with good eye relief and decent FOV for its day.
