HI Dennis and welcome to the forum. You didn't say what scope the GF got you? Useful to get hold of a red torch and a decent star atlas to know where stuff is. Could also think about downloading a free planetarium software program called 'Stellarium' - good bit of kit.

Hi James,

Thanks for the wlecome. I don't know the make, but it say's it's a 76dia, with a 700mm length. Don't think it's an expensive model, but hoping I can have a good look at the moon and perhaps a couple of the planets with it. Under no illusions of distant galaxy viewing, just yet. Will defo check out that software, thanks for the advice.
