Bresser v Skywatcher

Hi all,

Does anyone have any thoughts as to why Bresser refractors are so much more expensive than their sw equivalents? Does the price indicate a much higher quality instrument? Or is it that the accessories are better quality?

I've owned a Bresser 5" F/9.4 refractor and it was a nice instrument but no better than the Skywatcher Evostar equivalent. I think the high prices are because the current Bresser refractors have replaced the Meade AR6 and AR5's both of which were also, in my opinion, rather overpriced. The Bressers appear to be re-branded versions of the AR6 and AR6 to me - I've owned an AR6 which again was nice but no better than an Skywatcher Evostar 6".

I'd never buy a new large achromat personally - they depreciate too fast !.
