NGC 7380 - The Wizard nebula

Recommended Posts

Last Saturday (7/30) I was very lucky to have a clear, moonless night and even more to be on a dark site :)

The main target for this night was NGC 7380 - the Wizard nebula in Cepheus. In fact NGC 7380 is an open cluster and the surrounding nebula is cataloged as Sharpless Sh2-142. This beautiful object is 7000 light years away with dimensions of around 110 light years.

This nebula is little bit faint for my WO 110mm and now I think that had to use 15min exposures instead of 10min... Here is the result 1h 30m in 10min exposures at ISO 1600, 4 darks, flats, Canon 1000D - modified and of course APT for acquisition, focusing and framing :) Processing - DSS, PS, Noel's pack and Annie's Astro Actions.
