Recommended Posts

My longest set of exposures to date - a tad over 12 hours :(.

...although I think I was expecting 'more'...:) is this shot acceptable for such time invested....?

Details:

RGB One Shot Colour

74x 600sec light exposures

Flats(+Bias), Darks processed

Tak FSQ106-ED @ native - 530mm/f.5

SBIG ST-4000XCM - OSC self guiding @ -20c

IDAS-V2 filter

Tak EM400 mount

Control via 17" G4 Apple Powerbook running MicroProjects Equinox 6 (mount control) and Image (camera control/image acquisition).

Pre-processed, aligned and stacked in Nebulosity2.

Post Processing in PhotoShop CS3 + Russell Crowman's GradientXT + Noel's Actions

Learnt a few things while doing this first process, which I'll now try to put to good use for the second go!

Clear skies....(with no moon!).... :)

Thanks everyone.....

I'd like to dedicate this shot to my dad, who passed away at 2.45am this morning in his sleep at Queen's Hospital, Burton upon Trent.

RIP dad - will look out for you next time I'm out under the stars... :)

Hey, gosh.... Firstly, a great dedication, strong, unsentimental and deeply touching.

Naturally our thoughts are with you, Damian.

Secondly, this really is a classy image, smooth, deep, sharp, natural and with a truly great background sky.

All in, one great tribute.

Olly
