Solar imaging help

Recommended Posts

Hello, I got my Baader AstroZap solar film yesterday and will be making a holder soon and attaching to my telescope. I will probably make two types: a dust cap hole one and a whole aperture one (if the sheet allows it). I have the explorer 130m and was wondering if I could also do webcam imaging and, if so, what will the best settings be. Thanks :)

Yes you can do webcam imaging! You use the same techniques as for the Moon except you will have to keep the exposure time down and probably keep the gain low as well - the Sun is bright even with the filter!. You won't get a full disc with the webcam -so just concentrate on active areas. Take 600-1000 frames and process in Registax.

Here's one I prepared earlier! (Yesterday, 100mm f/10 refractor, SPC900)
