Fortunately i had a template for the taper....i improvised (cheated). I sort of managed to peel of the rubber armour in one piece (with a rip or two). Then traced around it on the back of the vinyl.

Had that back failed, i was going to stick a piece of card around the finder and use a knife to cut it into shape and then use the cut card as the template for the vinyl.

One of my regulars when i was running a shop in brum had a Carbon stripe Bonnet, roof and hatchback, he had proper carbon replacement panels.

It did look very cool, but not cheap.. his money though :)

I know what you mean. I've known about the Carbon look vinyl for ages but just associated it with pimped Citroen Saxo's. But it really does make a tatty, cheap scope look a whole lot better. It also covers up some holes from the original short dovetail which is handy.

Good job. I know you can get a bubble free type (mines still not here yet), so I'll let you know how that goes. Also you can have other colours aswell.

Look forward to seeing the results Rob. Are you doing both refractors?

Hope to do both as holes to cover!!.. will start with the 80 GTL with a dark grey CFV. Will then look to go either white or black on the AR80, though not sure on the AR as its a powder coat finish (like Intes) Will try some of the grey first to see how it sticks.
