Saturn Last Night

Recommended Posts

I'm hoping someone can identify a star I saw near Saturn last night as I'm not sure what it was.

I'm on holiday at the minute in the North Yorkshire Moors and didn't bring any of my astronomy stuff with me but I noticed a bright start slightly up and to the right of Saturn whilst doing a bit of stargazing last night.

At first I thought it might be one of Saturn's moons but thinking about it it might have been too far away for that. I'm fairly new to astronomy so a lot of this is still guess work for me :)

Yes it would have been Porrima, you wouldnt be able to see any of the moons without a scope/ binos

I could see 2 moons to the right of Saturn last night. Saw them in a 20x100 bino but much clearer in a 12 inch dob. Titan and Rhea?
