NGC 7000 First go

This is an attempt at NGC7000 from last night using quite a bit of new kit and some slightly hazy "seeing" - well, that's my excuse! The result is from 1h 24m of 2min subs (not dark enough for longer) using my unmodified Canon 1000D and SW ED80 PRO with a SW LP filter (new), guided with a QHY5 through a 50mm finder (all new), all on an HEQ5 / EQMOD setup.

I've always wanted to get this target since returning to astronomy after a 35 year break! So I'm quite pleased to have got anything at all. Its quite noisy and could do with much more time but there was only about an hour and a half of "darkness" last night! Plus I was interested to see just what the unmodded camera could do on such a "red" subject.

(There seems to be some sort of bird trying to get in on the act on the right hand side?)

Yup that pesky Pelican always tries to nudge in. Great first go at NGC7000, especially with an unmodified DSLR.

Yes, that's very nice for an unmod.

I remember last year trying to get something out of it with my canon but.....
