x3 barlow

Hi, welcome to the lounge.

A 3X barlow can give you a lot of magnification, depending on the eye piece you are using, and you may end up with a rather fuzzy view. It may be better to try a 2X first. A smaller, sharper view is better than an overblown dim one.

Matt Hi

Something I recently came across although using my SCT scope, plus also being new to all of this was by placing my barlow after the diagonal then X2 (scope, diagonal, barlow, eyepiece).

However, if I place the barlow before the diagonal then X3(scope, barlow, diagonal, eyepiece) or in my case webcam.

Hi there Matt, welcome to SGL :)

I'd be tempted not to buy anything for now and just use what came with the 'scope.

With eyepiece time under your belt you'll have a better idea of what needs adding to your kit.

HTH :p
