Hi Tess,

A very warm welcome to the forum. As has already been hinted at - I'm pretty sure it was a Iridium flare you saw. These are telecomunication sats; they have a reflective mirror at one end. Due to their altitude they are still in sunlight after dusk and before dawn. Sunlight glints of the mirror for a split second or two resulting in the flash.
